GEOGRAPHY

In geography, we aim to develop students’ understanding and their environment. Geography inspires pupils to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world, their value, and responsibility to other people and the environment, and finally to the sustainability of our planet.

Geography forms an essential part of student’s education at Key Stage Three and for many onto Key Stage Four. It encourages students to understand and think more about the world, the challenges it faces and their place within it. Geography students should gain a deep understanding of geographical processes, the impact of change and people-environment interactions, the links between places and environments at different scales.

Students should also be able to formulate enquiry and argument with the ability to identify questions and sequences of enquiry to write descriptively, analytically, and critically, to communicate their ideas effectively, to develop an extended written argument, and to be able to come up with a well-evidenced and informed conclusion about geographical enquiries and issues.
